Do suspenseful books keep you on the edge of your seat? Well, if that is true for you, you should read The Fifth Wave. The Fifth Wave written by Rick Yancey is a alien apocalypse book full of suspense and action. The Firth Wave has several different parts and in each part the point of view switches between different peoples perspectives so you get to see the same event but different opinions experiencing it. At the beginning of the book it may seem like you missed a book or vital information but you are informed of what you thought you missed later on in the book. The main character Cassie Sullivan is constantly on the run and fighting for survival after her entire family died, and 6.98 billion people after the aliens attacked all of the humans on earth over the course of five waves. The first wave was a giant EMP (electric magnetic pulse) causing almost anything that uses electricity or batteries to stop working and wiping out about half a million people. The second wave was a series of huge tsunamis that spanned all the coastlines in the world wiping out about forty percent of the worlds survivors. The third wave almost eighty percent of the survivors were killed by a strong epidemic. And the fourth wave the aliens get into people's brains and control their host. What is the Fifth Wave? If you like tragic, romantic books you will love If I Stay by Gayle Forman. Mia is a teenager who loves to play the cello. There is a snow day, and her family decides to drive to their grandparents house. The roads are very slippery. A truck crashes into the front of their car. Mia gets up and sees her body laying in a ditch. But who is she, is she a ghost?
She rides with her body in the ambulance and later in the helicopter. When she gets to the hospital her grandparents are in the waiting room. Where is the rest of her family? Many visitors come in and out. Mia is in a coma, so only her grandparents actually visit her. Everyone else just sits in the waiting room.

Formerly Shark Girl by Kelly Bingham
"God has plans for you," is one thing Jane Arrowood, 17, heard a lot once she recovered from a shark attack. That attack took her right arm, her dominant hand. Jane decided to take nursing classes to help people in situations like hers. Jane is an artist. Learning to paint with a new hand is hard, but for a perfectionist like Jane, it is harder and very frustrating. Jane being a senior in high school, needs to decide where to go to college. The four schools she sent applications to all accepted her, but she can't decide between art college or nursing school.
I really like this book. The author adds a lot of good detail that makes you want to read more. Jane's story is very relatable. I love this book, and I think you will love it too.

Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
Hatchet is a great book for you if you love survival. Thirteen year old Brian Robeson is going on a flight to see his dad. There is no one else in the plane besides Brian and the pilot. The pilot teaches Brian a couple things about flying a plane, but not many. The pilot has a sudden heart attack and dies. Brian is stuck in the plane by himself. He has no other choice but to try and fly the plane. He runs the plane until it runs out of fuel. His plan is to land it in a lake. He somehow manages to do it and survive. Now he has to survive in the woods until someone comes to rescue him, which might never happen. Will he survive? Read this book to find out.
Our lower campus library is decorated for the holidays! Our tree was donated by a Carondelet family and we are so grateful for it. It puts the library in the holiday spirit. Students have been having a wonderful time reading by the tree and enjoying the lights. Library Day is a favorite of many lower campus students. It's a great chance to read and relax!
